Movie Review: Dashavatar is a disaster!

Kamal Hassan’s Dashavatar may be said totally disaster. Dashavatar, the much awaited Hindi version of the Tamil blockbuster Dasavathara has ten different roles and different stories but fails to convey the message, ironically.

The movie is nothing but an exercise to prove that Kamal Haasan can carry off 10 different roles. At the same time, there are so many loopholes in the screenplay. Writing really takes a complete backseat.

Either the writer doesn’t know what screen writing is all about or he has decided to take the viewer for granted. (Though, Hassan himself wrote the story, screenplay and the dialogues, besides acting in the film)

Ten characters are from different continents starting from America to India in different periods from 12 century to 21st century. So that’’s the challenge of the film that it cuts across the time and space.

The film sees Kamal donning ten different roles from a Hindu priest to US President George Bush and also stars actress Asin and Mallika Sherawat.

The film, which took three years to get completed was pegged at over Rs.100 crore and was shot in eight foreign locations which including America, England, Japan, Malaysia etc.

In India, the film was shot in Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The advertisement budget alone went up to a stupendous Rs.6 crores.
